Leader
How I Lead
I truly believe that leadership is an act of service. I lead from beside, not from above. I never ask anyone to do something that I would not, or could not, do myself.
Where I am needed, I show up and do the work. Where I see potential, I nurture it and then I get out of the way so that it may flourish outside of my shadow.
My leadership philosophy has emerged through many years of service to marginalized communities both independently and through cultural and educational institutions.
Institutional roles include Board Chair of the African American Cultural Center (Buffalo, NY), Director of Arts Engagement and Education at Shea’s Performing Arts Center (Buffalo, NY), Creative Programs Director of Young Playwrights’ Theater (Washington, D.C.), Producing Artistic Director of African Continuum Theatre Company (Washington, D.C.), and Lead Teaching Artist at historic Ford’s Theatre (Washington, D.C.).
I am dedicated to using arts and culture as a tool for learning, building community, and igniting positive change.
